The Courage for Carina Foundation was a mere thought following the death of our only child. This little girl touched the lives of so many during her short life that we knew in some fashion that her legacy needed to be carried on. Joe and I were truly inspired by the Hospice and Palliative Care Team of Akron Children’s Hospital. The minute we welcomed Dr. Friebert and Dr. Langen into our home the urge to help them carry on their mission was speaking loudly to both of us.
I am a Social Worker by profession and Joe was an Engineer. My work assisted me in reaching out to others with the foundation concept while Joe became the practical thinker focusing on the financial backing of this project. With the support of our family, friends, and the community, Courage has taken on a life of its own. We had no idea how many people shared our passion to support chronically ill children and their families.
Courage…. A gift from Carina given to all who support this foundation.
