“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again”

Mary Anne Radmacher

Who We Are

A non-profit organization established in 2009 created in honor of a Carina Ruth –Ann Britz, a child who was born right in your neighborhood with a life-threatening illness. This organization was founded by her parents and supported by family and friends who were not only inspired by the miracle of her birth, but also by the love and support that surrounded them in the heartbreak of her death.

What We Stand For

This Foundation supports Akron Children’s Hospital, and more specifically, the Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care Center. The goal of Palliative Care is to minimize suffering and enhance quality of life for infants, children and young adults who are journeying through a chronic, complex, or life-threatening condition.

Why We Do It

The team of medical professionals at Akron Children’s Hospital allowed Carina’s parents the honor and privilege of caring for their ill daughter in the comfort of her own home surrounded by all things familiar. This team provided Carina with comfort medications and oxygen, while being available 24 hours a day to address her families’ questions and calm any fears. Through this experience, the need to give back was quickly instilled in the hearts of all who knew this beautiful little blessing.

Where the Money Goes

The money collected from this foundation’s annual fund- raising efforts supports Akron Children’s Hospital through the Carina Gift Card fund. The money raised is used to support those families with financial hardships to purchase everyday necessities such as groceries, gas, and paying down accumulated medical expenses while their children require extensive treatment and prolonged hospitalization.
